Universidad de Los Andes School of Management searches for new dean

Universidad de Los Andes School of Management in Colombia is recruiting a new dean to serve as leader of the school once the current incumbent, Veneta Andonova Zuleta, steps down in October

The new dean will report directly to the university’s president and the vice-president for academic affairs and will be a member of the academic council. They must have strong communication skills, be open to innovation, demonstrate flexibility and have the ability to understand different stakeholders’ dynamics and expectations, as well as be capable of developing a top-performing team to jointly lead the school.

They must also show genuine respect towards both faculty and school staff, demonstrate academic legitimacy and a passion for the value of management education, as well as have a commitment to pursuing the interests of the school and generating a positive impact among organisations and society in general. Moreover, they must be willing to embrace new ideas and continuous improvement in teaching and research practices.

They new dean will be accountable to the president and the university’s board of trustees for promoting academic policies, activities and leadership, as well as for strengthening its financial performance.

The ideal candidate’s experience will include the following: strong academic credentials and fluency in Spanish and English; a demonstrated track record in managing a complex organisation in a role requiring engagement of a diverse range of external and internal stakeholders; leading through legitimacy and responsibility within an intellectual/academic environment; financial and administrative management; and a global perspective, for example from having lived and worked in multiple countries.
