There is insightful, but practical advice on how to grow as a leader and develop the vital skills needed to truly succeed in this crucial role

Leadership and management skills are highly sought after by employers, but what does it really take to be a great leader or manager? Why are these skills so important? And how do you develop them? This course explains.

Leaders aren’t born but made and to be an effective leader there are three core behaviours you need to display. These include choosing a style of leadership, keeping the team motivated and addressing the needs of the task, team and individual.

The primary responsibility of all leaders is to ensure their team achieves its task, but how can you do it? This course sets out the key functions of leadership and explains how to effectively perform them.


In this course, we look at three key leadership styles, explaining what they are, their pros and cons and the situations they’re most suited to. To be an effective leader, you need to understand these different styles and be able to switch your style to suit different people and situations.


Having a strong understanding of how you manage people – and the positives and negatives of your approach – is the first step in growing and improving as a leader. This course describes some of the most common styles of leadership and how they can be adapted for the better.
